Captain Chace comes from a fishing family. He began his maritime career as a boy on his grandfather’s lobster boat based in Westport, MA.

 After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and spent four years both aboard the USCGC Eagle and operating search and rescue craft out of New London, CT.

After discharge from the Coast Guard, he rejoined the ranks of commercial fisherman aboard his family’s off-shore lobster boat Cap’n Don.

After 25 years on Georges Bank, he headed to the Bering Sea where he served as Captain of several large commercial fishing vessels based out of Dutch Harbor Alaska.

His professional credentials include Master of Uninspected Fishing Vessels up to 5000 Gross Tons, Inspected Vessels up to 1600 Gross Tons. in addition to Master of Towing Vessels of the same tonnage. He also holds Pilotage for Buzzards Bay, and the Cape Cod canal.
